Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Deepens Focus on Medical Technology with DeepMind Technologies

Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is pushing further into medical sciences through its artificial intelligence company DeepMind Technologies. DeepMind is focused on creating cutting edge self-learning software able to address various needs in the health care sector.

DeepMind Hiring Spree

Google has teamed up with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College for their big next project, DeepMind Health. Alphabet Inc has been on a hiring spree as it tries to build up a formidable team. Google has brought in 15 notable hires including two physicians to help spearhead evidenced based development. Dominic King, co-founder of  innovative healthcare tech firm of Hark, is set to join the division.

Mustafa Suleyman, DeepMind co-founder, is focused on building relationships with clinicians to inspire practical medical solutions. Suleyman’s goal is to study how well DeepMind’s creations can be implemented.

Increased Investment on Health Technology

Google’s collaboration with clinicians has already created Streams, a software that aggregates records and lets doctors view results faster. This simplified system is projected to save live by making diagnosis simpler and faster.

Health care partnerships are key to Alphabet Inc.’s commitment to creating innovative technologies that improve and extend lives. The tech firm already operates a life sciences lab, Verily, as well as an anti-aging company Calico. Google has also expanded its cloud offerings into the healthcare system.
