Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Call Off Divorce Following Pregnancy Rumors
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner legally separated over a year ago with a public announcement. A new report indicates that the celebrity couple is in no rush to get divorced. The former couple may be on the mend amid rumors that Garner is pregnant. The couple has three children together.
US Weekly reported that Garner and Affleck have called off divorce talks, or put the talks on hold.
People magazine reported less than a month ago that Garner was “adamant” about divorcing her husband. The actress has reportedly stated that she is still in love with her husband, according to sources close to the matter.
“Jen seems to still be in love with Ben,” states the source. The actress reportedly focuses all of her attention on her kids, which has allowed her to deal with the split. A second source close to Affleck reports, “If it was up to Ben, they would be together. He feels like he can’t live without Jen.”
“Couples that still love each other can reconcile. We see it happen every year at our law firm,” states Brad Micklin of The Micklin Law Group.
The former, or reconciling, couple was married for 10 years. Cheating rumors surrounded the couple’s divorce, but neither party clearly stated why the marriage went south. Recent reports point to Garner being pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. Rumors swirled shortly after that the couple was reconciling.
The pair was spotted in Europe with their children, which spurred further rumors that the power couple may get back together.
Reports from December alleged that Affleck was on the midst of an emotional breakdown. The actor was reflecting on his time with Garner and the events leading up to their split. “Ben still doesn’t want the divorce and he might actually get his way,” one source stated.
The couple states that the time spent together in Europe was meant for them to spend time with their children.
Celebrity powerhouses, the couple is reportedly worth $115 million combined. Garner’s net worth is reported as $40 million, leaving Affleck with a net worth of around $75 million. Affleck would be on the losing end of the divorce if the couple were to split their assets down the middle.
Insiders allege that Affleck’s drinking habits were combined with gambling, which made matters worse for the couple. The drinking and gambling were the primary reasons for the divorce petition, according to insiders.
“They looked like they were only trying to be around each other for the girls,” one report said prior to the couple filing for divorce.
California’s divorce laws state that in less than 10 years of marriage, spousal support will be awarded for half the length of the marriage. Garner filed for divorce after 10 years and one day of marriage. Passing the 10-year threshold may have been a strategic move by Garner. Both spouses worked throughout their marriage, and this will be a key factor when discussing spousal support.
“They are trying to resolve this quickly and easily,” said one source. The couple reportedly wanted to live on the same property after divorce for the sake of the children.
