Keshia Knight Pulliam Demands House and Assets Following 7 Month Marriage
Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ed Hartwell are divorcing. The couple announced their divorce earlier in the week. A shock to friends and family, the marriage lasted just 7 months. Pulliam, a former star on the Cosby Show, is pregnant with Hartwell’s child.
Pulliam has reported that she’s ready to take the next step in her life after her marriage.
The actress stated that she’ll be using her divorce as her unborn child’s first lesson in womanhood. “I’m dealing with today. I am taking it day by day, and my focus right now is loving myself the best I can,” Pulliam told ET in an interview.
In a talk with Nischelle Turner, Pulliam asserted that she is focusing on loving herself because that’s “loving my baby.”
Pulliam told Turner that her daughter will have to experience this one day.
The large discrepancy in net worth has not stopped Pulliam from asking for the house the couple lives in and assets that were accumulated during the couple’s marriage. Pulliam also wants possession of all of the money she earned prior to marriage.
Hartwell stated in a previous interview, “We probably messed up.” Hartwell was the one that filed for divorce after just seven months of marriage. The 38-year old former NFL player stated that both sides had suspicions of infidelity. The divorce filing came shortly after Pulliam publicly announced her pregnancy.
“She wanted a baby really fast,” he told interviewers. Hartwell told reporters that he tried to explain to Pulliam that in his experience, it’s best to focus on their relationship before having a child so close after marriage.
“That’s something she really wanted to do,” Hartwell said of Pulliam.
The couple married after just four months of dating. Pulliam’s desire to have a baby became a struggle for the relationship. Hartwell states that he had to sit down with his ex and tell her, “I think we probably messed up. I think we moved too fast.”
Hartwell’s ex-wife Lisa Wu is the mother of his 9-year old son Ed. Jr. Hartwell admits to still caring for Wu, and told Pulliam he was upset that Wu lost her baby. “She wasn’t mad that I still cared about Wu,” said Hartwell.
“You can’t talk to her,” stated Pulliam.
Hartwell states that Pulliam was mad that he didn’t want to have a baby. She was not mad that he still cared for Wu.
“The length of the divorce will play a major role in court when deciding how assets will be divided. All assets and money earned during marriage should be split equally,” states Attorney Allison Maxim.
The marriage fell apart at this point and led to Pulliam disappearing for days at a time, according to reports. Hartwell believes Pulliam may have found someone else to father her child. Pulliam blames Hartwell for their fallout and believes he may have been unfaithful. Hartwell stated, at the time of filing for divorce, that all he wanted was a paternity test.
